[PC-Magazin] Turaya: Open Source Platform for Trusted Computing

The first modules of an open-source security platform supporting Trusted Computing have been published by EMSCB.

In the form of “Turaya.Crypt” and “Turaya.VPN”, the first modules of an open-source security platform supporting Trusted Computing have been published by EMSCB - a project that is partly funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The software is meant to provide the German industry with a standardized basis in order to make it independent of monopolists.

The “European Multilaterally Secure Computing Base” (EMSCB) is developed by a consortium of German science and industry. The goal is to develop a trustworthy (in the sense of Trusted Computing), fair and open security platform based on Trusted Computing technology that is compatible with existing operating systems, but at the same time eliminates their inherent risks.

This architecture is meant to be a basis for the realization of security-critical applications and to provide the German industry with a standardized technology for the development of new and innovative products for PC- and server-based platforms, embedded systems and mobile devices.
